　ウシたちが、荷車を引いていました。
　Oxen were pulling a wagon.

　荷車の車軸が、キイキイときしみました。
　Wheels on the wagon started squeaking.

　するとウシたちは、車軸に向かって、
　Then the oxen told the wheels,

「よせやい、荷物を引っ張っているのはおれたちだぜ。
“Knock it off. It is us who’re pulling the wagon.

　お前が泣く事はないだろう」と、言いました。
　This is not your time to squeak.”

　この車軸と同じように、実際に働いているのは他の人なのに、
　Just like these wheels, there’s a person who makes a tired face as if he was the only one working,

　自分だけが働いてくたびれたという顔をする人がいます。
　although it is actually others who did all the work.
