・方法(Procedure)

　12月27日の誕生花ヤツデは、別名を「天狗の羽団扇（ハウチハ）」「鬼の手」と呼ばれていて、大きな手の形の葉に魔を払う力があると言われています。
(Fatsia japonica, the birth flower for the 27th of December, is also called “Tengu no Hauchiwa (Long-nosed goblin’s fan made of feathers)” or “Oni no te (Demon’s hand)," and they say the hand-shape leaves have the power to drive away evil spirits.)

　冬でも大きな葉が落ちずに茂るため、庭に魔除け、疫病除け、人目除けに植えられていました。
(Even in the winter, the large leaves stay green without falling off, so Fatsia japonica  used to be planted for the purpose of driving away evil spirits and plague as well as avoiding being in the public eye.)

・注意点(Important point.)

　民家に植えているヤツデを勝手に取らないこと。
(Do not take away the Fatsia japonica planted in private properties without any permission.)
