　かねもち が、ふたり の むすめ を もっていました。
　There was a rich mother who had two daughters.

　その ひとり が しんだので、かねもち は そうしき の とき に、なく やくめ を する なきおんな を やといました。
　When one of the daughters passed away, the rich mother hired some women whose role was to cry at the funeral.

　もうひとり の むすめ は、それ を みて ははおや に いいました。
　The other daughter said to her mother at the funeral,

「わたしたち は、なさけない おんな ですね。
”We're miserable.

　なんの かんけい も ない あの おんなたち は、ひどく かなしそう に なける のに、
　Those women, who've got no relationship with my sister, can cry so sadly,

　みうち に しなれた わたしたち は、あんな に じょうず に なけない の ですもの」
　but we, who've lost one of our immediate family members, can't cry that well.”

　すると ははおや は、こたえました。
　Then the mother answered,

「あの おんなたち が いくら かなしそう に ないても、かんしん する こと は ありませんよ。
”No matter how sadly those women are crying, you shouldn't be impressed.

　あの ひとたち が なく のは、おかねもうけ の ため なんだから」
　They are crying for making money.”



　おかね が ほしい ばかり に、たにん の ふこう も へいき で かねもうけ の たね に する ひと が います。
　This story tells us that there are some people who would be willing to take advantage of others' misfortunes to make money.
