　うまれて から いちども、ライオン を みた こと の ない キツネ が いました。
　There was a fox who had never seen a lion in his whole life.


　あるひ、この キツネ が ばったり ライオン に でくわしました。
　One day, the fox ran into a lion.

「・・・・・・！！」
“…..!!”

　なにしろ うまれて はじめて みた もの ですから、キツネ は ふるえあがって こわさ の あまり しにそう に なりました。
　As this was the first time that the fox saw a lion, he was horrified to death.


　にどめ に ライオン を みた とき、
　The second time the fox saw a lion,

　キツネ は やはり こわがり ましたが、さいしょ の とき ほど は こわく ありません でした。
　he was still scared but not as much as the first time.

　さんどめ に ライオン を みた とき、
　The third time the fox saw a lion,

　キツネ は そば へ よって はなしかける くらい へいき に なりました。
　he was as comfortable as going close and talking to the lion.

　この おはなし は、
　This story tells us that

　おそろしい もの でも なれて くれば、おそろしく なくなる と いうこと を おしえています。
　even the scariest thing becomes not scary once you are used to it.

　いやな こと でも やってみれば、あんがい だいじょうぶ かも しれませんよ。
　If you try doing what you are reluctant to do, you may find it not as bad as you think.
