　あるとき、オオカミぐん と イヌぐん の あいだ に、いがみあい が おきました。
　One day a struggle broke out between wolves and dogs.

　イヌたち は、いっぴき の ギリシャけん を たいしょう に えらびました。
　Then the dogs picked out a Greek dog as their leader.

　ところが この たいしょう は、オオカミぐん が いくら おどし を かけて きても、いっこうに おうせん しよう と しません。
　However, no matter how harshly the wolves made threats, the leader would not fight back against them.

「どうして わたし が ぐずぐず しているか、わかりますか？」
”Do you know why I'm lingering against your threats?”

と、イヌ の たいしょう は オオカミ に いいました。
　The leader said to the wolves.

「それは、なにごと も とりかかる まえ に よく かんがえる こと が、かんじん だから ですよ。
”It's because it is important to give careful consideration before taking actions in the first place.

　それで、みわたした ところ、あなたがた オオカミぐん は、みんな おなじ ちすじ で おなじ けいろ を して いますね。
　Observing the composition of your group, I found you all are in the same blood, and have the same hair color.

　ところ が わが イヌぐん は、それぞれ が たいそう ちがった くせ を もった もの の あつまり で、
　But we dogs have a wide variety of characteristics respectively,

　どの イヌ も じぶん の うまれた くに を じまん に しています。
　and each one of us takes pride in our home countries.

　け の いろ さえ も まちまち で、くろい イヌ も いれば、ちゃいろ の イヌ も いる、しろい のも、はいいろ のも います。
　Our hair color varies from one to one. There are black ones, brown ones, white ones, and even grey ones.

　こんなに かんがえかた から なにから ぜんぶ ちがう れんちゅう を まとめて せんそう させる なんて、できそうも ありません からね」
　There are so many different characteristics among us, including our ways of thinking, so it doesn't seem that I can easily organize all of these to form a force against you.”



　ひとりひとり が どんな に ゆうしゅう でも、みんな が こころ を あわせて かとう と しなければ、あいて に まけて しまうでしょう。
　No matter how competent we are, we will lose eventually if we do not unite our hearts altogether to win.
