　まき を つんだ ロバ が、ぬま を わたって いました。
　A donkey that carried a load of wood was passing through a pond.

　ロバ は とちゅう で あし を すべらせて、ころんで しまいました。
　The donkey tripped and fell while crossing.

　なかなか おきあがれない ので、ないたり わめいたり していますと、ぬま の カエルたち が いいました。
　As it wasn’t able to rise easily, groaned heavily.  Then some frogs in the pond said,

「おいおい、ちょっと転んだだけで、そんなにヒイヒイ騒ぐなんてだらしない。
“Come on, don’t be so sissy.  You just fall into the water.

　もしも ぼくら みたい に、ずーっと この ぬま に いさせられたら、いったい どうする き かね」
　What would you do if you had to live here always as we do?”




　ちょっと した くろう にも、よわね を はく ひと が います。
　Some people show the white feather for nothing.

　この おはなし は、そういう よわむし に きかせる と よい でしょう。
　This story would be nice to tell those sissies.
