The Hermes's vehicle and The Arab
(Aesop’s Fables)
Translation ちいさな翻訳屋さん
Japanese ・ English ・Japanese & English
With the vehicle filled with lies, frauds and deceits, Hermes had been traveling across the world
and dispensing a little portion of them to each country during his trip.
However, when he got to the country of the Arabs. the vehicle broke down all of a sudden.
The Arabs thought all the loaded goods must be of great value, so they stole everything from the vehicle,
making Hermes stuck in the country of the Arabs.
This story ends with an explanation;
“The Arabs lie the most, and are the most dishonest kind of all the people across the world.
As a matter of fact, they never tell a truth.”。
Because Aesop, who lived in the time of ancient Greece, felt jealous of the fact that the tribe of the Arabs was good at business during that time,
this story might have been written.
