　むかしむかし、ある もり の なか で、ネコ は キツネ と バッタリ であいました。
　Once upon a time, a cat ran into a fox in the woods.

　ネコ は ニコニコ しながら、キツネ に はなしかけます。
　The cat spoke to the fox with a smile.

「こんにちは、キツネさん。かり の ほう は うまくいっていますか？
“Hello, fox. How has your hunting been going?

　このごろ えもの が すくなくなって、かり が やりにくく なりましたね。
　There hasn’t been so much game lately and hunting became a bit difficult, don’t you think?

　でも キツネさん は あたま が いいから、きっと どんなとき でも うまく やっていらっしゃるん でしょうね」

　すると キツネ は ネコ を ジロジロ と ながめてから、めんどくさそう に へんじ を しました。

　キツネ は、おおげさ に おどろきました。

　それから、あいて を ワナ に ひっかける わざ もね。

　キツネ が とくい に なって、むちゅう で しゃべっている とき です。

　いつのまに か イヌ を よんひき つれた かりゅうど が、すぐそば まで きていました。
