　のど が カラカラ に かわいた カラス が みずさし を みつけ、よろこん で みずさし に むかい ました。
　A very thirsty crow came upon a pitcher and he flew toward it delightedly.

　しかし みずさし には、みず が すこし しか はいって おらず、カラス の くちばし では、とても すいめん まで とどき ません。
　But he noticed that only very little water left in the pitcher and that he could not reach far enough down to get the water with his beak.

　それでも カラス は あきらめる こと なく、あらゆる ほうほう を ためし ました。
　He tried every idea came in his mind.

　しかし、その どりょく の かい も なく、すべて が しっぱい に おわり ました。
　But he failed in spite of his great effort.

　でも、カラス は まだ あきらめ ません。
　Even so, the crow did not give up to get the water.

「かんがえろ、かんがえろ、あきらめては だめ だ。きっと なにか いい ほうほう が。・・・あっ、そうだ！」
“ I should think and think. I never give up. There should be something… Oh, here comes an idea!”

　ある めいあん を おもいついた カラス は、あつめられる だけ の いし を あつめる と、それ を ひとつひとつ くちばし で みずさし の なか へ おとして いきました。
　He was hit on a good idea. He collected as many pebbles as he could and he dropped over the pitcher’s brim one by one with his beak.

　すると みずさし の すいい は、いし を いれた ぶん だけ ふえて いき、ついに カラス の くちばし まで とどいた の です。
　The water mounted up as he dropped a pebble, and at last, he was able to reach the water with his beak.

　さいご まで あきらめず に がんばった カラス は、こうして いのち を ながらえる こと が できた の でした。
　He could quench his thirst and saved his life because he did not give up.



　『ひつよう は はつめい の はは』と いい ます。
　It is said “Necessity is the mother of invention”.

　どんな に むずかしい こと も、あきらめず に がんばれ ば、かならず せいこう します。
　No matter how hard it is, you will succeed if you keep on trying.
