The Bugler
(Aesop’s Fables)
Translation ちいさな翻訳屋さん
Japanese ・ English ・Japanese & English
A bugler was captured by the enemy.

“Everybody, please listen up! Please don't kill me without any careful consideration.
I haven't killed any of your fellows.
I don't have anything but a bugle.”
The bugler said.

“If that's so, we have to kill you all the more
because you've been just impelling your fellows to fight rather than fighting yourself.” The enemy said.
This story tells us that people who do not do bad things by themselves but impel others to do so are the worst.
