　いっぴき の りょうけん が、ライオン を みつけて おいかけて いきました。
　A hunting dog found a lion and chased after it.

　ところが、ライオン は イヌ の ほう に むきなおって、
　But the lion turned around to the dog and let out the loud roar,

「ウォー、ウォー」
“Grr…,”

と、ほえだし ました。
“Roar!”

　イヌ は こわく なって、にげもどって しまいました。
　That terrified the dog and he turned the tail.

　キツネ が それ を みて、イヌ に いいました。
　The fox saw everything and said to the dog,

「なさけない やつ だな、ライオン を おいかけて いた くせ に、ほえごえ を きいた だけ で にげだす なんて」
“That is pathetic. You were the one chasing after the lion,but you ran away by just hearing lion’s roar. ”



　じぶん より つよい ひと の こと を かげ では わるぐち を いったり、バカ に したり している くせ に、
　You should tell this story to the one who is speaking ill of someone or looking down on people behind,

　いざ その ひと を あいて に すると なると たちまち、こそこそ と にげだす ひと に、この おはなし を してやる と いいでしょう。
　but never have the courage to face them.
