　ヒツジかいたち が のはら で ヤギ を いけにえ に して、
　Shepherds sacrificed a goat in the open field

　きんじょ の ひとたち を しょうたい しました。
　to treat their neighbors.

　その なか に、こども を つれた まずしい おんな が いました。
　Of those treated neighbors, there was a poor woman who brought her child.

　いけにえ を ごちそう に して、みんな で たべている うち に、
　While eating the sacrificed treat with other neighbors,

　そのこ は たべすぎて きぶん が わるく なりました。
　the child ate too much and felt sick.

「おかあさん、ぼく、おなか を もどしそう だよ」
“Mom, I feel like vomiting my stomach.”

と、ははおや に いいます と、ははおや は、
　He said to his mother, and then she replied,

「もどす のは おまえ の おなか じゃなくて、
“You're not vomiting your stomach,

　おまえ が たべた ぞうもつ ですよ」
　but vomiting the offal that you ate.”



　この おはなし は、
　This story

　いつも おかね を かりて ばかり いる ひと を たとえて います。
　compares people who are always borrowing money.

　そういう ひと は かりた おかね を じぶん の もの だと おもいこみ、
　When they have to return the money,

　おかね を かえす とき に じぶん の おかね を とられた よう に かなしむ もの です。
　they tend to feel as if their own money were deprived, and then grieve over it.
