There was a poor man who was suffering from a disease.
All doctors who had seen him said,
”There's no cure.”
Then the man thought of asking for God's help.
”If you should cure my disease,
I will devote a hundred beasts and plenty of other offerings.
So please cure my disease.”
He said, and pleaded.
His wife, who was right beside him, got surprised to hear his remark, and said,
”Where in the world are you going to find money to do such things?!”
Then he answered,
”What are you saying? All I want is to cure my disease.
Whether or not God is coming to collect the offerings is no concern of mine.”
This story tells us that
people can be all mouth and
make empty promises.
