Once upon a time, there was a very religious woman.

She went to church every day and prayed for her happiness.

One day, she went to bed soon after dinner because she would have an early morning gathering at church the next day.

At midnight, she happened to awake and noticed that moonlight was shining through the window.

She looked at a clock and found that it stopped and was pointing at 12 o’clock.

(Actually, what time is it now?)
She worried, opened the window, and looked toward the church.

She found the church’s windows filled with light.
“Oh my god! They have already started their prayers.”

She got dressed quickly, threw her cape on, and hurried to the church with her prayers book.

Curiously, however, the streets were quiet.

No one went to church.

“Something strange…”

Anyway, she went into the church and saw many people in the hall.

She took a seat in a hurry.

Again, she felt something wrong.
It was still before praying, though, no one chatting.

Moreover, all people around her turned white and looked like the dead.

Moreover, she didn’t know any of them.

Some of them seemed vaguely familiar to, though, she had no idea where she met.

After a while, a minister came into, but he was also a stranger and had a creepy pale face.

He started preaching.
The hall fell utterly silent and no one even coughed.
(Usually, they must be noisier… )

She became scared little by little.
Soon they began to sing a hymn and the ceremony approached the end. A lady who was near the woman spoke to her in a whispering voice.

“You had better get out of here soon before the ceremony ends. Otherwise, you would be killed!

This is the gathering of dead people!“
“What?”
The woman was surprised and looked at the lady’s face. She recognized that she was one of her good friends in the neighborhood, who died long ago.

(Oh well, all people here I’ve seen are those who have died long ago… )

Her body suddenly began to tremble.
“Move, quick. Don’t leave your cape.”

Getting her advice, the woman put her cape on and tried to go out of the hall sneakily.

Everyone seemed to notice her escaping, they were singing the hymn and glared at the housewife.

They kept still now, though, soon after finishing the hymn, they would be sure to attack.

Eventually, she got to the exit and they finished the song.

At the moment, they stood up all at once.

They surrounded the woman and reached their hand to her cape.

(Oh my god!)

She struggled to throw her cape and got out of the church.

Only to run away without looking back.

Finally, she got to home, looked back toward to the church and saw the church without the light.
The woman became relieved and looked at her clock.

It must have stopped, though, it was working. It pointed just one o’clock.

The woman felt so scared that she couldn’t go to church in the coming morning.

When people came to the church in the morning, they became puzzled to find the cape tore into pieces that the woman had left.
