　ツバメ が、サヨナドリ に いいました。
　The Swallow said to the nightingale,

「あなた も わたし と おなじ に、ひと の いえ の のきさき に す を つくって にんげん と なかよく すれば いいのに。
“Why don’t you make a nest on an edge of an eave and befriend humans like me?

　ぜひとも いらっしゃいよ」
　Come with me.”

　サヨナドリ は いいました。
　The Nightingale replied

「わたし は むかし、にんげん に ひどい こと を された ので、にんげん を みれば それ を おもいだして しまいます。
“Long time ago, humans did cruel things to me, and I cannot forget them.

　いや な こと を おもいだす ところ に わざわざ すむ き には なりません。
　I don’t want to live in a place where I remember my own suffering.

　わたし が にんげん の いない さびしい ところ で くらしてる のは、その ため なんです」
　That is why I live in a lonely place where humans will never come.



　この おはなし は、いちど かなしい め に あった ひと は、その ばしょ まで きらい に なって ちかづこう と しない こと を おしえています。
　This story says that people do not like to visit the scene of their past suffering.
