　ロバ と キツネ が なかま に なって、りょう に でかけました。
　A donkey and a fox went to hunt together

　とちゅう で ゆくて に、ライオン が あらわれました。
　On the way, a lion appeared

(これ は あぶない！)
(This is dangerous!)

と、おもった キツネ は、一人 だけ、わざわざ ライオン に ちかづいて、
　the fox thought, and went closer to the lion alone and said,

「もし、わたし を あんぜん に とおらせる と やくそく して くだされば、あの ロバ の やつ を、あなた に ひきわたしましょう」
“If you will promise my safety and let me go, I will give you that donkey”

　ライオン が やくそく した ので、キツネ は ロバ を おとしあな の ところ へ つれて いって、つきおとしました。
　The lion agreed, so the fox brought the donkey to a trap and pushed him into a hole.

　ライオン は ロバ が にげられない こと を たしかめる と、
　When the lion made sure that the donkey could not escape,

　まず はじめ に キツネ を つかまえて、それから ロバ に むかって いきました。
　he first went to capture the fox, and then went to the donkey.

　この よう に なかま を ワナ に かける ひと は、しらない うち に じぶんじしん も おなじ ワナ に はまって しまう こと が おおい もの です。
　Anyone who tries to trap his friend often ends up caught in the same trap himself.
